Just When You Thought You Knew it All-Visit the Con Man’s Blog

Posted by Rosie on December 16, 2007

Let me introduce you to Jack Payne. He is 81 years young. His blog is called Con Man’s Blog.

The beginning part of his profile states:

Jack Payne was the founder and first editor/publisher of the newsletter, Business Opportunities Digest. His 55 business books have sold over 1.1 million copies, and his best-selling How To Make a Fortune in Finders Fees remained in print 25 years. Known for his intensity, his first legal thriller novel, Six Hours Past Thursday, explores, in depth, the workings of the con man mind. The first two chapters of Six Hours Past Thursday are online along with a story summary of the book. Readable for free. You are invited. www.sixhrs.com

Now I was sleepy when I went to the site. But after reading just one post it was like a 10 cups of coffee were injected in my veins.  This is great information! Every post is worthy of an article in Time Magazine and the Wall Street Journal.

I was especially impressed with his discussion on scams regarding living trusts, stock options, and other scams that capture your valuable personal information.

I think that Jack should have his own Radio or Talk show so we could all ask him questions and glean from his bottomless well of information and expertise.

This site is a must view, bookmark, rss feed capture and copy and file resource, not just for baby boomers but anyone who could benefit from his wisdom.

Thanks Jack!

Experiance Under Water Photography By Way of An Awesome Blog!

Posted by Rosie on December 14, 2007

When you see this stunning blog your mind gets a lulled into a quiet serenity with the color of blue and pictures of fish swimming. I am not going to keep you in suspense, the blog is called, The Right Blue.

I am going to let the first paragraph of the ABOUT page tell you more because it is so well written:

The Right Blue refers to the goal of a lifelong pursuit. Sea water viewed from beneath the surface comes in many hues and shades. Surfers wait for the perfect wave; divers seek the right blue.

As you continue to read the fact that the authors are married to each other, boomers, passionate about diving and skilled under water photographers just stun you with anticipation to read more. So you will find yourself reading the entire section and even going to the page about under water photography before you start reading the posts. (Well, I am really talking about my experience. )

The couple lives in Hawaii and the entire blog makes you feel like you were on a tour without the expense of the hotel. Wow, Wow and double Wow sums up each and every post that is on this blog. I must say that since I am a fan of photography and travel  this blog resonates with me.

You really dive into the blog when you visit the photo gallery.  The pictures are breathtaking!

I have never dived. Yet, If I was close I would go to them for lessons. It would be worth learning how to swim to get prepared.I am also so very proud of them because they, like many boomers, live their passion and share their expertise.

Today I say “Thank You” to them and encourage them to keep up the great work!

Rosie

PS-Please go to view their site and let me know if you also say, “WOW!

So You Want Use Blogs For Your Business?

Posted by Rosie on December 11, 2007

If you want to get really good at blogging please consider visiting and subscribing to Search for Blogging. I was captivated by this blog because it gets to the point and provides lots of saturated content on blogging as a business.

The author , Mert, is in Turkey and although he is not a boomer yet, he will probably be rich when he does get to boomer age.

Be sure also to visit his article page where he has a lot of business building tools. He seems really open to questions and support so I would suggest making a comment with questions on his blog.

He stays current and does frequent posting. I say he stays current because I was sticking to his site listening to an excellent video by a blogging expert giving suggestions on how to increase the traffic of a blog that appeared to already be very successful.

The blog entices you to come back for more if you want to succeed in making your blog a business venture. For example, the post today was on blog carnivals.

He defines what a blog carnival is and provides links for further information. The point is made that a blog carnival will increase the traffic to your site via links.

Why am I reviewing this blog on a boomer review site? Because it is clear and easy to understand for many boomers who want to start blogging or already blogging but not a techi. Off course I must add my own site to this review, Blogging For Boomers!

So I encourage you include this blog in your RSS feed and go back to it often just like a visit to the library or favorite book store.

PS Note also that at the end of each of his posts he has two words, Share this. Once you click on the link you have a selection of social marketing options. Really a cool technique. I intend to ask him how he does it.Mert, if you are reading this How did you do that?

Shari’s Gone Country!

Posted by Rosie on December 9, 2007

I posted a discussion on Blogcatalog.com asking for boomer sites. The site I am reviewing today was submitted by someone who knew about four boomer women who were carving out a life in the remote. One of their sites is called, Shari’s Gone Country.

The following description is in blogcatalog:

Discover how four “boomer+” women are creating a working Merino sheep ranch (farm) in the middle of nowhere. You’ll laugh ’til your sides hurt as you help us round up sheep, herd chickens, and clear tumbleweed.

Now you must admit this blog sounds like a lot of fun and relaxation. When you go to the blog it has a picture of two cows eating. Yep, you are ready to take a trip to the country. I looked at the post for today and I thought, “These are strong women!

The posts are down to earth, down to every day living and up to a positive perspective that engages you to want to read the entire blog posts. I would not be surprised if a book does not appear with all their adventures next year.

I am most excited about the fact that they are living out dreams, supporting each other, having fun and still pursuing entrepreneur activities. Her business blog is content filled with organizational tips for staying organized and computer savvy with a home business.

I expect much more to come from the insights of this remarkable woman. I admire her and wish I was out on a farm with my mom. It would keep both of us young! (Meanwhile I am thinking about teaching her how to blog) What a powerful message for other boomers caring for older parents.

Much continued success!

PS I hope she also places this blog in Blogarama

They do not seem to have a lot of boomer sites. The more directory placements the better.

An Inspiring Boomer Blog by Sister Deborah Humphreys

Posted by Rosie on December 4, 2007

In 1972 I graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with some pretty powerful, wonderful and talented women. I have stayed in touch with many of them. However, recently I’ve had the opportunity to work with Sister Deborah Humphreys on several projects.

On our last project, a staff training retreat, she and my husband, Artist Ray Horner, Jr , had their own drumming jam session after dinner. I wish I had it on tape. There they were two great artists beating working with an assortment of congas drums.

Just when many our age consider slowing down the learning pace Sister Deborah, a part of Sisters of Charity’s community, is working on yet another degree. This time it is a Masters in Fine Art.

Today she sent Ray and I her new blog. it is called A Work in Process.

I just had to share it with as much of the world that will ,I hope, see it.

I am amazed at her artistic skills and bottomless vase full of gifts. This blog not only contains breathtaking photos but captivating art work and a story written in Spanish.

Her picture called, Reflection, is stunning. I wish she had it for sale on the site or prints available as gifts.(Smile)

It is important that you also visit her other site, Conventional Wisdom. She is a master poet and Haiku genius. I actually created a special category in my article directory, articles for boomers just for her to submit her poetry in the future.

So if you want to stay young at heart and mind visit this awesome site plus her other sites. And the next time you start thinking about sitting on your gifts and talents think about my friend, Sister Deborah.

I am so very proud of her and thankful for her inspiration.
