Do You Have a Logo?

CaringCommunicationssigDo you have a logo for your business?

I was just uploading my logo to my Ebay invoices and wondered how much we really use our logos online. What do our logos say about us and about our business?

If you  look  at my logo you see that it is an attempt to capture the myraid forms of communication.  For us it includes online talk, offline talk, plus more all connecting with powerful diversity.

I hope that my logo shares the combined business efforts of both Ray and myself. As an artist Ray is teaching, training and teleporting folks into his art as much as possible.

As a trainer, keynoter, baby boomer blogger, coin lover and communication expert I am trying to connect folks with  their passion, potential and purpose through caring communications.

What about you? Do you have a logo you would like to share ? How do you use it? Are you using it as much as you should?

Just add  a link to somewhere we can view your logo directly in your comments. Keep up the great work my f fellow baby boomers.

RSS Feeds-Say What?

How many of you know the RSS feed for your blog or static website? Ok, please don’t allow your eyes to glaze over. But I challenge you to go to Feedburner and sign up for an RSS feed plus other good stuff. Just spend a few minutes there and soon it will be second nature or at least clearer mud.

Here is a clear explanation of RSS feeds by Bill Johnson.

5 Benefits Of Using Feeds – How Feeds Can Help Your Online Business

5 Benefits Of Using Feeds – How Feeds Can Help Your Online Business by Bill Robinson

Summary:
What’s a Feed?

Feeds are a way of sharing content. When you make material from your website available for publishing on other sites, you provide them with a feed. Basically, it’s a code that lets them post your articles and blogs. There are different kinds of codeXML, RSS, Atom, etc.but essentially they’re all just different ways of accessing a feed.

According to internet expert Sydney Johnston, The great thing about a feed is everybody wins. The article writer gains exposure, the reader learns about something of interest to them, and the online seller gets an endless source of pertinent content.

What Can a Feed Do for My Online Business?

Feeds are useful in a number of different ways:

They Eliminate Spam-filters. They’re 100% opt-in, so readers can subscribe and unsubscribe at will. Feeds are delivered directly to your subscribers, so you don’t contend with filters knocking you out of their inboxes.

They Provide Free Content. One of the best ways to differentiate your site is to supply readers with interesting materialeducate them on topics relating to the product you’re selling. If you sell preschool toys, chances are you don’t want to study child development and write numerous articles on the subjectso find someone else who’s already done that and make their feed available to your customers. The constantly updating, applicable subject matter gives your visitors a reason to keep coming back.

They Can Improve Your Search Engine Rankings. In the past, search engines were unable to read feeds, but software is now available to translate them into live links the engines can see (check out http://CyberWS.com). Search engines love fresh, dynamic content, so feeds are ideal. They provide relevant information that updates automatically. Not only do your customers get the facts they’re looking for, but the search engines like your site and give it better position.

For Affiliate Marketers, They’re an Alternative to Banners. You not only give your customer valuable knowledge, but if they click through and purchase something, you get credit. And unlike with banners, you don’t look like you’re putting up junk ads or spam.

They Can Increase Your Traffic. Anything you write, you should make available as a feed. When other sites pick it up, it’s free advertising for youall their traffic is able to click through the feed to your site. So you gain new potential customers you wouldn’t have otherwise.

Feeds on any subject are easy to find. There’s a whole collection of search engines just for feeds, like http://Plazoo.com and http://Feedster.com. Says Johnston,The future of the internet for entrepreneurs is feeds. If people don’t master them, they’re going to get left behind, period.

Hand Washing Helps Prevent Disease in the Hospital

This video is aimed at hospital based infections.  They are commonly called, HAI(Hospital Associated Infections.

Now, some folks do not want to ask health care providers or visitors to wash their hands. But mental  discomfort now  can mean physical discomfort later.

View this insightful video by Centers for Disease Control.

Sometimes people are picking up infections, from pneumonia to antibiotic-resistant staph (MRSA), while under treatment for other health problems, or even while just in the hospital having a baby.  That’s a situation that could, and should, be completely avoidable.

Kimberly-Clark Health Care is on the forefront of protecting patients from Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) and has put together a site dedicated to that prevention called HAI Watch: Not on My Watch.  The site has information for both healthcare professionals and healthcare consumers.

Super Soups-Hearty Beef Vegetable Soup/Stew by Cindy Shields

Special thanks to my guest blogger today, Cindy Shields

Hearty Beef Vegetable Soup/Stew

I make big batches of this soup and some times I thicken it and add dumplings. The left overs are frozen in plastic containers, making great meals to heat in the microwave at work.

2 lbs stew meat
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

5 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp Heinz 57 sauce
1 large onion,chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
12 cups beef broth (3 jugs)
4 cups V8 juice
3 bay leaves
1 tsp Spicy pepper medley
1 tsp Roasted garlic and peppers
2 tsp Basil
2 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Thyme
1 tsp parsley
1/4 tsp crushed chilies
1/2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp seasoning salt

1″ spaghetti in your fist, broke into 1″ pieces

1 turnip
1 large parsnip
4 large potatoes
6 large carrots
1 leek, chopped

If making dumplings, add dough to soup when vegetables start to boil. Cook covered for 10 minutes, uncover and continue to cook another 10 minutes. Remove dumplings to a bowl and keep warm in oven. Continue to make either the soup or stew. Always thicken the stew just prior to serving so it will not burn.

1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 1/2 cups frozen peas

Sour cream (optional)

Brown the stew meat in the butter and shake Worcestershire on top of stew. Add the next 16 ingredients and bring to a boil. Turn down heat and simmer for 1 1/2 – 2 hours. Add the spaghetti broke into 1″ pieces and bring to a boil, stirring several times so the spaghetti won’t clump together. Add the next 5 vegetables, peeled and cubed into the same size pieces (I like bite size pieces). Bring to a boil again (add dumplings if desired) and simmer for 20 minutes or until the vegetables are tender crisp. Add the peppers chopped into pieces and the peas. Bring to a boil once more turn off and serve with a dollop of sour cream on top. For stew, thicken with a mixture of either 1 cup corn starch, 1/2 cup water and 1/4 cup Bisto traditional gravy mix or with flour, water and Bisto.

Dumplings

2 cups all purpose flour
3 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp fresh parsley chopped

Mix flour, baking powder and salt well. Add the milk oil and parsley mix until it forms into a ball. Drop tablespoons of dough into boiling soup. Simmer covered for 10 minutes, uncover soup and continue to simmer another 20 minutes. Remove dumplings before thickening for stew.

I Was Almost Conned By This Guy

It was a restless night. Just too much on my mind. We left the TV on and I woke up to hear Kevin Trudeau talking on an info-commercial about how you can get FREE money from the government.

Well, I have heard that from Lesko but never got the book. And, I thought, in my foggy thinking, this guy is saying that the other guys book was not the way to go. He is saying that he gives less pages and just the right info.

I continued thinking, “I really could use FREE money”. My mind drifted to bills, goals that needed money, people that needed money, and I drifted back to sleep. Oh, I did not go to sleep until I wrote his number down on my bed stand.

Later that day, I looked and the number and was about to grab my credit card. Then I stopped. I said, “Rosie, you know better, check this guy and his offer out first.”  So, I did a search on google with his name and the word “scam” in the search.

Wow, there was enough there to make me laugh at how I almost gave this guy FREE  money. Some complained about paying large amounts for shipping. So, here is a post I just read so you can decide for yourself before listening to your impulses like I almost did.

Read this article about this famous info-commercial expert.

Now, if only we practice the technique but add truth to it that would be a good thing. What do you think? Is this article wrong? Did you buy the book and benefit from it? Are his critics just player haters? I do want to be fair because I never put money out to get the book.
